Former LoonWatch Intern Christopher Emory describes his internship experience as “coming full circle, from learning about loons and educating the public last summer, to actually doing the hands-on field work this summer.”
You may remember him for the colorful cast (broken wrist) he sported last summer. Like a banded loon, this made him recognizable enough to be identified by someone (who had attended his presentation) while he was fishing on a lake last summer. This summer Chris landed an internship with Dr. Walter Piper, who studies the behavior of banded loons on approximately one hundred lakes in Oneida County.
