Wolf Awareness Week & Poster

October 18-24, 2020.

This year, Wolf Awareness Week’s focus is new insights on wolf ecology and stewardship. We will be highlighting some of the major research projects happening nationally that have given us new insights into wolf ecology and stewardship in recent years. Voyageurs Wolf Project, predator-prey relationships in the Great Lakes populations, and Yellowstone wolf management are just some of the topics that will be covered. Through these highlighted research projects we hope to address some of the myths of wolf ecology in the history of management.

To commemorate Wolf Awareness Week, TWA creates an annual poster featuring an award-winning artist’s rendering of a wolf or wolves in their natural habitat. Below you can learn more about ordering posters, submitting artwork for next year’s poster, and becoming a sponsor.

Call for Poster Artwork

Each year Wolf Awareness Week and its poster celebrates a broad theme in wolf conservation. The theme for 2020s is New Insights on Wolf Ecology and Stewardship. In 2019, we celebrated Ma’iingan’s relationship with the Ojibwe as well as other Native American cultures within North America, and in 2018 we celebrated the twenty-year anniversary of Mexican gray wolf reintroduction and recovery. Wolf Awareness Week posters have been created by Timber Wolf Alliance since 1990.

In 2020, we will highlight some of the major research projects happening nationally that have given us new insights into wolf ecology and stewardship in recent years. Voyageurs Wolf Project, predator-prey relationships in the Great Lakes populations, and Yellowstone wolf management are just some of the topics that will be covered. Through these highlighted research projects we hope to address some of the myths of wolf ecology in the history of management.

Ideally we seek art that displays wolves in the Great Lakes states. However, we are grateful for any wolf art submissions. Please submit proposed art work to the Timber Wolf Alliance by April 15, 2020. The winner will be announced in May.
