If you’re interested in taking home house plants from the academic greenhouse at the Larson-Juhl Center for Science and the Environment (CSE), Professor Sarah Johnson or her staff will be available to let you come through and pick out what you’d like from the academic collection. Our main goal is to make sure our plants find new homes, though we will welcome donations to Helping Paws.
2–3 p.m. Faculty and staff
3–5 p.m. General public
Accessing the Greenhouse
To access the greenhouse Thursday afternoon, you will need to enter from the outside greenhouse door that we’ll have propped open toward the south end of the parking lot at the CSE. Entry into the CSE from the greenhouse will be blocked.
None of the native plants are available; those are all going to the US Forest Service (yes, Northland students and faculty are contributing to regional conservation efforts up until our very last days!).
The University of Wisconsin-Superior has adopted quite a few of our plants, and the School District of Washburn School is coming Thursday to have their pick before we open it up to faculty and staff for the first hour and then to our larger community for the last two hours of the event. We suspect that there will still be many plants that need to find their forever homes!
