The Mabel Cora Maxwell Nature Study Area is located ten miles south of campus, near the winding banks of the White River. Patrick and Jean Bradley gifted these 140 acres of land to Northland College in memory of Jean’s mother, Mabel Cora Maxwell, as a way to commemorate her life and her generosity towards the Northland community. The Maxwell Nature Area has become an outdoor classroom for faculty and students for research and stewardship work.
