If you transfer to another college, you will follow that college’s standard transfer process, and you may initiate the transfer process at any school you select. Please contact their admissions office to begin that process.
Teach-out agreements are arranged between Northland College and specific schools. These arrangements may be a preferable option for students that were enrolled at Northland in a specific degree program when the college closed.
Teach-out vs. Transfer: What’s the Difference?
Northland College has established formal Teach-out Agreements with select institutions to help students complete their degrees with as little disruption as possible. These agreements offer specific benefits not typically available through a standard transfer.
Teach-out Agreements include:
These are schools Northland has partnered with to provide a clear and supportive path for continuing your education.
- Automatic admission for Northland students meeting specific criteria as identified by the teach-out institution.
- Full credit acceptance for all successfully completed coursework at Northland, ensuring students can stay on track to graduate in their original timeline.
- Comparable net tuition, meaning students will pay about the same—or less—than they would have at Northland. While the scholarship names or structure may differ, the overall out-of-pocket cost will be aligned.
Transfer Institutions
Students may also choose to transfer to a college that is not part of a Teach-out agreement. While many schools welcome transfer students, the process can vary. Transfer institutions may:
- Require a traditional application and review process.
- Not guarantee full credit acceptance.
- Not offer comparable financial aid packages or tuition rates.
For these reasons, transitioning to a designated Teach-out Institution may provide a smoother and more cost-effective path to completing your degree.
