Background

Born in Texas and raised in Minnesota, I originally found my way to Northland as a student. After spending four incredible years and many, many hours in the humanities department at Wheeler Hall, I graduated with a triple major in English, religion and philosophy, and writing. I went on to complete my MA degree in communication at Hawai’i Pacific University in Honolulu, HI.

I love everything about marketing and communications, having held positions in public relations, advertising, events management, nonprofit marketing, digital media, and strategic communications. I was born with wanderlust in my heart, and I have been fortunate enough that my work has taken me everywhere from Hawaii, Minneapolis, Mexico, Jamaica, Turkiye, Alaska, and now: back to Wisconsin! These jobs (particularly ones in the international markets) have only reinforced my belief that all good marketing comes from good communication, and good communication is built by utilizing the tools of proper grammar and syntax, a solid understanding of the philosophy of language, the tenants of narrative structure found in English, the point and poignancy of a good visual, and of course: any and all forms and styles of effective writing. It is no coincidence that these tools, which would aid me time and time again in my professional career over the past two decades, were forged all those years ago at Northland College, during my formative years there as a student.

Interests

In my free time, when I’m not on campus, I like to read, go on adventures with my tiny muppet dog (Hoarfrost), collect mannequin parts, drink jugs of local dairy milk, collect strange antiques, travel, and perfectly cook bacon on the weekends (it’s an art form). I love a good Bajan rum, and not to brag, BUT: I’ve been told that I make the meanest tropical rum punch this side of the Mexican border.

Rum punch aside, I am ecstatic to be back at Northland College and working alongside the talented Marketing Communications Team in the role of Executive Director of Marketing Communications. I have no doubt that great things are in store for us!
