Camp Brother Bear is the natural evolution of Brett Norgaard’s commitment to Northland College. Finding joy from grief after the unexpected passing of his son, Bjorn Norgaard ’10, Brett and his family established the Brother Bear Fund to support adventurous student experiences at Northland College.
Over the years, the scope of that support has evolved and so has the Brother Bear experience. Committed to forming meaningful opportunities for Northland students, Brett began planning Camp Brother Bear, an outdoor music, activities, and camping experience at Highbridge Hills. Working with the Office of Alumni Relations over ten months, Brett and his team produced an event that hosted five bands, over two hundred attendees, numerous volunteers, and many sponsors during Fall Festival weekend. With sponsorships from more than a dozen organizations and individuals, including the Northland College Student Association (NCSA), the event was free for current Northland students, with proceeds supporting the Brother Bear Fund.
Next year’s event is in the works as Brett continues to grow his commitment to Northland in a truly unique way.
