On December 3, 2024, Northland College will join the global GivingTuesday movement with its theme, “Rooted in Resilience—Let’s Keep Growing.” This year’s campaign calls on the College’s community of alumni, friends, and supporters to join in keeping Northland strong by celebrating the College’s enduring presence on the big lake. The campaign is a heartfelt call to sustain Northland’s mission for future generations, embracing the deep-rooted strength that has defined the College’s identity.
In a recent conversation about the importance of this campaign, Jackie Moore ’05, executive director of institutional advancement, shared, “Northland College has a special place in Ashland and beyond. For generations, we have weathered challenges, strengthened our connection to the north woods, and continued to educate leaders dedicated to the environment and to serving this region. GivingTuesday is about more than just donations—it’s about coming together as a community to sustain Northland’s mission and help us continue making a difference.”
Throughout its history, Northland has faced difficult times with a resilient spirit, much like the perennial trees that surround the campus. That resilience has shaped Northland as an institution dedicated to fostering environmental education and awareness, promoting social justice, and engaging in hands-on experience in an intimate setting. With every season, the College has renewed its commitment to inspiring students to become leaders who are “rooted in resilience,” prepared to make a difference in a changing world.
“Everyone has a part to play in Northland’s future, and our alumni, faculty, students, and community partners keep us grounded, just like the sturdy trees we’re surrounded by here in the north woods,” Moore said. “Together, we can help Northland keep growing!”
Stay tuned for ways you can join in the fun, share your story, give back, and show your support on GivingTuesday! Together, we can continue Northland’s legacy of resilience and growth, ensuring that it remains a thriving part of this region for generations to come.
