After two years without in-person reunions, Fall Festival is returning to campus September 21–24, 2022.
“Reconnecting with the campus community is important for our alumni and friends. The past two years have been hard on many traditions that are only shared during big gatherings like Fall Festival,” Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Jackie Moore ’05 shared. “I invite all alumni and friends of Northland College to return to 1411 Ellis Avenue this September—Ashland will be the place to be!”
This Fall Fest will be truly special, as the College will be marking its 130th anniversary. The Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute—founded on March 25, 1972 as the Sigurd Olson Institute of Environmental Studies—is also celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout the coming year. A major inflection point for the direction of the College, the founding of the Institute came out of an environmental conference hosted by the College on August 27, 1971. That conference set the stage for the first fifty years of the Institute. The week of this coming Fall Fest in 2022, the Institute is again hosting an environmental conference to set the stage for the next fifty years.
This Fall Fest will also see the return of beloved, classic traditions—an All Class Alumni Procession, Convocation, Music on the Mall, and everyone’s favorite Orange and Blue Alumni Banquet to close out the weekend. An Alumni Awards Reception will recognize the outstanding award recipients since the last in-person Fall Fest. And after a brief hiatus, the Athletic Hall of Fame is accepting nominations until May 31 and will honor this year’s winners at a Saturday morning brunch near the gymnasium.
Because of the pandemic, the Class of 2020 didn’t have a traditional commencement. That Class will be specifically honored this year with a similar recognition, and all 2020 alumni are encouraged to reunite for the celebration.
Further details about Fall Fest, the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute’s conference, and more events will be shared in the coming months. In the meantime, you can learn more and sign up to receive updates as the events near.
