The Trump administration recently rescinded a “Dear Colleague Letter” that had been issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education last year regarding the inclusion of transgender students in schools. Much of the attention on this “Dear Colleague Letter” has focused on restroom usage, but the document included far-reaching guidance to make sure transgender students are fully included and welcomed at their schools, colleges, and universities.
Northland College today reaffirms it’s commitment to create a safe and respectful environment for all students, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
This commitment is backed by federal law and by Northland College’s values of inclusion, diversity, and equity that we aspire to live out every day. We work together to create an inclusive and welcoming environment through initiatives includingall-gender restrooms, housing policies, discussions with faculty on inclusion in the classroom, and the opportunity to implement chosen names in campus systems wherever possible.
