Northland College and the Chequamegon Bay Area Arts Council are teaming up again to host the 2015 Small Works exhibition and auction to be held at the Dexter Library on the campus November 10 through December 4.
A closing reception will be held on December 4, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Two requirements of this show make it exciting and different from other exhibitions. The first stipulation is that the artwork submitted can’t exceed fifteen inches in any direction. Secondly, all submitted artwork will be for sale in a silent auction format.
One of the goals of the Small Works show is to engage an audience that may not be able to afford a large piece of original art. So the size of the art has been limited to fifteen or smaller in any direction. All forms of visual artwork will be accepted.
Another goal of the show is to create a venue to help artists get some money in their pockets. To help meet this goal neither CBAC nor Northland College will take a commission on sales. Last year approximately thirty-five artists participated and submitted nearly eighty works of art. Over two thirds of the work sold and made nearly $2000 for the artists.
The final bidding will take place at the closing reception on December 4, 5 – 7:30pm. There is no entry fee for CBAC members and a $10 entry fee for non-members.
This is a great opportunity for emerging artists to introduce themselves to the public and for established artists to reach a new audience.
