Dear Northland Community,
Northland College has always been rooted in the belief that individuals can make a meaningful difference in their communities. Over the past two weeks, this spirit has shone brighter than ever before. The enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to safeguarding and advocating for Northland’s future has been truly extraordinary.
While the Board has focused on donor outreach, our faculty, staff, students, alumni and the broader community have joined in our shared purpose and are doing everything they can to support Northland College. Hundreds of you participated in visioning sessions last week, the City of Ashland held a wonderful fundraising event, businesses and organizations have started their own fundraising efforts, and our alumni and students have taken to social media to voice their passion for Northland and how it has impacted them.
We are deeply grateful and inspired by the enormous support.
Fundraising update
We know there are a lot of questions about the progress of our fundraising appeal. With several fundraising efforts happening on parallel paths, we’re still calculating the ever-changing total at this point. We are regularly receiving checks which we are processing as quickly as possible and are in active conversations with potential major donors. What we can share today is that we have a long way to go to reach our goal of $12 million and the next week will be critical to our appeal. Thank you to the many who have already contributed and to those who are managing their own fundraising efforts on behalf of Northland.
What happens next?
This week:
- Board members look forward to reviewing shared plans and ideas from faculty, students, staff and the community.
- Board members and college leadership will continue active outreach and conversations focused on large donation and mission-aligned partnership opportunities.
- The College will continue to share student, alumni, staff, faculty stories. If you would like to share your own, please contact marketing@northland.edu.
We plan to keep the fundraiser active until midnight on April 3. On April 4, the Board will review progress and share an update with the community.
On behalf of each member of the Northland Board of Trustees, thank you for the commitment and support you’ve demonstrated over the past two weeks. We know it is a difficult time and the incredible response we’ve seen truly exemplifies the power of a community coming together.
