The head men’s lacrosse coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the men’s intercollegiate lacrosse program in accordance with Northland College, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. The head coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse program that emphasizes the educational welfare of its student athletes. The position has additional duties in the Athletics Department.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Organize, in conjunction with the executive director of intercollegiate athletics, all aspects of the men’s lacrosse program, including facility, competitions, practice schedules, and team operations
- Serve as recruiter for the men’s lacrosse program, identifying and evaluating students who are a fit for the institution and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions
- Act as an ambassador of the College, conducting oneself in a positive manner and heightening awareness of the institution to all of its constituents
- Follow all institutional, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and NCAA regulations regarding men’s lacrosse in particular and athletics in general
- Project and promote an inclusive education with the highest standards where student athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success
- Operate within the mission of the College and the Athletics Department to ensure a full NCAA DIII student-athlete experience
- Build successful relationships with alumni
- In collaboration with facilities, maintenance, and men’s lacrosse, manage all aspects and upkeep of the field and Ponzio Stadium
- Communicate professionally and proactively within the College community and beyond
- Schedule contests and work with conference office on scheduling game officials
- Take the NCAA test on regulations and rules
- Recruit to expected roster size
- Promote and perform fundraising activities, including public speaking and participating in Athletics Department friend and fundraising events
- Manage budget in collaboration with athletics administration
- Annually declare and receive approval from the executive director of intercollegiate athletics and College president for all outside income
- Other duties as assigned by the executive director of intercollegiate athletics and the Office of the President

- Bachelor’s degree
