The Forest Lodge event coordinator is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and facilitating educational programs and facility use at the Forest Lodge Educational Campus.
Forest Lodge is an historic estate that is part of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin. The estate includes six historic structures, a number of smaller outbuildings, and extensive, forested grounds on the shore of Lake Namekagon. Northland College provides daily management and educational programming at Forest Lodge through a unique lease rooted in historic preservation.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Duties of the event coordinator include (1) managing reservations and a master calendar for programs and facility use at Forest Lodge; (2) greeting and orienting visitors and users of Forest Lodge; (3) promoting use of Forest Lodge through outreach and marketing to potential users; (4) budget administration, including invoicing for educational programs and facility rentals; (5) preparation of annual usage reports; and (6) assisting the caretaker with event-related cleaning and housekeeping as needed.
Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license, clear driving record in the past three years, and access to a reliable form of personal transportation
- Ability to kneel, bend, carry, climb, and lift items up to 30 pounds
- Basic first aid/AED/CPR certification at time of hire
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications and technology platforms in general
- Demonstrated success in positions that required effective communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, independent time management, and professionalism
- Willing to work alone in a remote location and in circumstances that may require long workdays and flexibility in response to unexpected changes to plans or routines
Supervisory Responsibilities
The coordinator may provide occasional supervision for volunteers or Northland College students in work-study or internship positions.
Hours and Work Environment
Hours for this half-time position are partially dependent on facility use and vary weekly and seasonally throughout the year. Evening, weekend, and some holiday work is required.
A computer, phone, and seasonal on-site office space are provided by the College. Work from a home or personal office is expected November through April and allowed at other times of the year, if desired by the coordinator.
