The purpose of this role is to operate the on-campus Post Office to provide mail services to the campus community. This is a 3/4-time, benefits-eligible position, with general hours being 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Post Office hours are 10 a.m.–12 p.m. and 1–3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Regular Duties
- Oversee all operations of the Campus Post Office.
- Receive incoming mail and packages delivered by the US Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS), FedEx, et al.
- Break down mail and sort for distribution in a timely manner.
- Scan and track incoming USPS, UPS, FedEx, and all other overnight mail using the Pitney Bowes Send Suite software.
- Assist customers by selling stamps and mailing supplies, determining postal rates for domestic or international mailings, and by selling postage for certified mail, express mail, and packages.
- Manage the mailbox inventory; assign mailboxes to new students, faculty, and staff; close mailboxes for
students who have exited from the College; maintain mailbox combinations; and categorize all mailboxes as available, occupied, or broken. - Maintain current address list for forwarding mail to students leaving for the summer or leaving Northland College permanently.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current federal postal regulations and postal prices, the latter requiring a periodic update of the Pitney Bowes meter software.
- Ensure that all mailings are properly processed with the most cost-effective manner of delivery in mind.
- Ensure that mail is properly classified as a letter, a large envelope, or a parcel.
- Ensure that mail is properly categorized as being for individual(s) or departments using postage meter accounts.
- Track and bill charges for large departmental mailings, including bulk mailings prepared by vendors.
- Develop and monitor Campus Post Office service standards.
- Order stamps, envelopes, and mailing supplies to sell at the retail window.
- Hire, supervise, and mentor student workers.
- Process cash and credit card deposits.
- Reconcile monthly credit card expenses.

- Demonstrated ability to communication clearly both verbally and in writing
- Interpersonal relationship skills which are respectful of diversity
- Basic math aptitude
- Attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
- The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to fifty pounds
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous post office experience desired, but not required
