Youth Connect Trails is a place-based service-learning program for middle school and high school youth, 6th-12th grades. Students engage in service-learning, gaining outdoor knowledge, skills, and stewardship, while also given opportunities to reflect on volunteerism, personal and group growth, and learning during the day. Service-learning projects are located outdoors, primarily working with partners in maintaining and establishing trails.
Wednesday workdays will primarily be located at Mount Ashwabay. Participants will meet at the SOEI parking lot at 8:30 or in Washburn at Veterans Park at 8:50 am. Participants will bring their own snacks, lunch, water, and work gloves. More details will be shared once registered. At the end of the day, participants will be dropped off in Washburn at 2:40 and at 3:00 in Ashland.
Participants sign up by contacting Katherine Jenkins at 715.682.1853 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. First come first serve. The maximum group size is 8 per day, traveling 4 students per van with masks on. If your student can not meet on Wednesday but is interested and/or you are interested in creating an opportunity for a cohort of friends/students for a specific day, please contact Katherine Jenkins and we will work with you to meet your group’s needs.
