The current war in Ukraine seemed to erupt from nowhere, but it has deep historical roots, and there are many layers of complexity. What is the history of Ukraine and Russia? How can we sort through the claims of both sides? What does Putin want? What are the implications for NATO and the European Union? How can the United States respond? Professor of History Paul Schue will sort through it all, with a question and answer period at the end.
This is a hybrid event, taking place in the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute’s Sentry Room at Northland College and via Zoom. All are welcome to attend in person or online, including Chequamegon Bay community members.
