Participants will learn how to make a traditional ribbon skirt that they can wear to round dances, powwows, and other cultural events. Our workshop leaders are Esie Leoso Corbine and Rae Anne Maday.
This workshop is open to Northland College employees and current students. As space is limited, advance registration is required.
Location: Northland College Indigenous Cultures Center Student Lounge (Mead 114B)
When: Friday, 2/9 from 5-9 pm and Saturday, 2/10 from 10 am to 4 pm. Participants will need to attend both sessions to complete their skirt.
Participants will need to purchase their supplies and bring them to the first session on Friday, 2/9.
Supply List:
- 2 1/2 yards of cotton fabric
- 1” elastic for the waistband
- Thread – cotton or all-purpose
- Ribbons – 1 to 2 yards per color; the number, size, and colors of the ribbons are up to the individual.
