Nick Robertson: The Perplexing Plastics Problem

October 18, 2018, 5:00 pm7:00 pm

Northland College chemistry class

What Is It, Where Does It Come From, and How Do We Fix It?

Plastic is one of the most recognizable materials on the planet and has transformed the way we live. Yet most do not understand how it’s made and why it has the amazing properties it does. With a better understanding, our society will be equipped to minimize its damages.

Robertson is an associate professor of chemistry. Nick did his undergraduate work at UW-Eau Claire, graduate work at Cornell University and he is starting his tenth year at Northland. He runs an undergraduate research program that focuses on minimizing the environmental impacts of plastics and has been fortunate to have worked with twenty-five research students during his time at Northland.

This talk is part of the Presidential Inauguration Faculty Speaker Series. Visit here for a full Inauguration Week schedule.
