The Northland College Indigenous Cultures Center is hosting Jason Schlender for a presentation on land acknowledgements. The presentation will address the complexities of inherent tribal sovereignty and cultural humility, as well as the historical impact of dispossession, land loss, and genocide through education and governmental policies.
Jason Manidoo Noodin Schlender is an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. He has served as vice chairman of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board, chairman of Waadookodaading Ojibwe Language Institute, and as chairman of the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission’s Voigt Inter-Tribal Taskforce. He currently serves as tribal administrator for the St. Croix Band of Ojibwe.
