Earned and Honorary Degrees
BA, Drake University
Background
I am a Water Resource Specialist at the Mary Griggs Burke Center for Freshwater Innovation, and new to the area. I am from Des Moines where I also attended college at Drake University.
My previous roles included working in Drake's stream ecosystem ecology lab researching how land use impacts water quality and using an unmanned surface vehicle to study agricultural streams. I also worked in the nonprofit sector at the Iowa Environmental Council in various roles, including field organizing to promote clean energy, digital communications, and as an assistant to the IEC's water program.
I am excited to combine these skills in my new position at the Burke Center and have a chance to explore and learn more about the area.
Why Northland?
My professor that ran our lab at Drake University, Dr. Peter Levi, accepted a new role at the Burke Center and told all of us about the position. I applied, visited, and really enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing about the work.
Interests
I love to spend time outdoors roller skating, hiking, swimming and collecting rocks. You can also find me hanging out with my crested gecko, Slinky, or thrifting, cooking, or making collage art.
