Background

I have been a faculty member at the College since 1991 and have truly enjoyed teaching here. The environmental, liberal arts mission is consistent with my own worldview. The smaller classes are particularly important when teaching in the disciplines of religion and philosophy.

I also very much enjoy living in the north woods and near Lake Superior.

Research

My current research is on the religious-philosophical dimensions of silence. I have also conducted research on the Burakumin, a ethnically Japanese people who have been historically discriminated against in Japan. I continue to develop new courses for the curriculum, including topics on human rights, religion, and foodways.
