Background
Although I’m originally from the Detroit area, I spent many years living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in a community very similar to Ashland. I have worked in higher education professionally for over fifteen years and have experience at multiple college campuses. I began my career working in the field of student housing, but since then I have also had the privilege of gaining a variety of administrative experiences in the areas of both student affairs and enrollment management.
As dean of students at Northland College, I’m thrilled to be able to regularly engage and interact with our students, faculty, and staff. I strive for all students to be successful, both inside and outside the classroom, and my goal is to remove barriers that may hinder students’ abilities to achieve their goals.
Why Northland?
From the moment I first visited Northland’s campus, I could tell that this college community was special and offers a truly unique and meaningful education and experience for its students. Since its beginning in 1892, Northland has strived to make the world a better place, both physically and socially, and this commitment continues to be demonstrated today through the amazing students, faculty, staff, and alumni that make up this community. In addition, Northland College is located near the shores of Lake Superior and has some of the best outdoor recreation options that you’ll find anywhere.
Interests
My family and I love living in the Ashland area and we enjoy exploring new places, whether it be a waterfall or a local coffee shop we haven’t been to yet. We also enjoy traveling and have a goal to eventually get around to all the different national parks.
