Background
Neargarder takes over NC volleyball team after spending the past two seasons at Illinois College as an assistant coach. There she served as a primary recruiter helping coordinate student-athlete visits and assisting the head coach in daily practice and travel operations. Neargarder has also been an assistant at Wilmington College along with the head coach of multiple club teams in the Ohio area. Before working at Wilmington, Hope was the volleyball graduate assistant at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio from 2017-2019.
Neargarder graduated from Defiance College in 2017 with her bachelor's of science in athletic training. There she was a four-year member of the Defiance Yellow Jackets women’s volleyball team totaling 376 kills in her career. While also being part of two conference championships. She then continued her education receiving her master of science in sports leadership at Miami University in 2019.
Why Northland?
Northland gives me the opportunity to keep serving the younger generation through the game. Northland felt like a place where I could keep growing in my career and the people where just so welcoming right away!
Student Involvement
Unique ways I involve students is by building those strong relationships with my student athletes. Learning their goals in life, academics, and athletically and giving them tools to help them reach their goals.
Interests
I love watching sports, reading, and traveling. Spending time with family and friends. Taking walks with my husky, Alaska!
