BA Music Education, UW Superior
I taught band at Winter, Wisconsin, schools and Ashland middle and high schools for thirty four years. I retired from AHS in June, 2017. I am excited to have this wonderful opportunity with Northland College music. I have also directed the Our Lady of the Lake church choir for twenty-seven years. I play trombone with local groups and play piano, organ, and sing for church activities.
I love living here in Ashland and am humbled to have been asked to fill the role of choral and band director following the dedicated former conductors. I know this area and it’s beauty. I look forward to serving the students and community members who enjoy making music.
I will be conducting the Northland College Choir and Chamber Choir. I will also conduct the Northland College Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. Each of these groups will have a different style and feel for their performances and what could be better than that!
Working together in the quest for great music is a complex venture. Each individual is a vital member and I strive to have all students know their value in the prospective music group they participate in. I love getting to know people and hopefully they will come to know me, too.
I love being outdoors and working in my gardens. I love all types of music making. I can’t sit still, so I crochet or create things.
My beautiful family of husband, four handsome sons, wonderful daughter-in-law, and two gorgeous grandchildren keep me busy with their events. I work with students at Our Lady of the Lakes school and volunteer with the Ashland Rotary or whoever needs my help in keeping our community growing.
