Background

My background in music begins with singing since I could speak and piano lessons in the 2nd grade. I grew to teach band at Winter, Wisconsin, schools and Ashland middle and high schools for thirty four years. I continued into this wonderful opportunity with Northland College music. I also direct the Our Lady of the Lake church choir and play trombone with local groups. I play piano, organ, and sing for church activities and offer lessons to younger students. I also arrange and write music which you can find online.

Why Northland?

I love living here in Ashland and am humbled to have been asked to fill the role of choral and band director following the dedicated former conductors. I know this area and it’s beauty. I look forward to serving the students and community members who enjoy making music.

Courses

I conduct the Northland College Choir and Chamber Choir. I also conduct the Northland College Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. Each of these groups has a different style and feel for their performances and what could be better than that!

Research

I am currently working on more musical compositions for Band.

Outreach

I am a Master Adjudicator with the Wisconsin School Music Association and am available for clinics, consultation, guest conducting or adjudicating opportunities.

Student Involvement

Working together in the quest for great music is a complex venture. Each individual is a vital member and I strive to have all students know their value in the prospective music group they participate in. I love getting to know people and hopefully they will come to know me, too.

Interests

I love being outdoors and working in my gardens. I love all types of music making. I can’t sit still, so I crochet, sew, or create things when I don't have rehearsals.

My household includes my spunky mother and steadfast husband. We have a wonderful family of four handsome sons, beautiful daughters-in-law, and four gorgeous grandchildren who keep me busy with their events.

I work with students at our local schools and volunteer with the Ashland Rotary, Ashland Music Boosters, Ashland Chamber Music Society, or whoever needs my help in keeping our community growing.
