Background
I am a Water Resource Specialist at the Mary Griggs Burke Center for Freshwater Innovation. I am from central Wisconsin, though I have wanted to relocate to the Ashland area for quite some time.
I have a background in water chemistry and biology that began during my undergraduate schooling at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Water and Environmental Analysis Lab (WEAL) and continued throughout my early professional career. As a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, I conducted the biological monitoring of and reporting for two local streams as part of a long-term Adaptive Management program.
I am strongly interested in the responsible stewardship of freshwater resources and communicating freshwater science to all. Additionally, I am particularly interested in the effects of phosphorous and sediment loading on aquatic ecosystems.
Why Northland?
I have a lot of respect for Northland's longstanding history of promoting environmental education and sustainability. When I saw the opportunity to join the Northland community, I jumped at the chance to participate.
I also love the Chequamegon Bay area and am thrilled to reside here.
Interests
I frequently hike and love to find new places to explore-especially when water is involved! I also enjoy illustrating plants and animals, reading, and music.
I am excited to explore the Chequamegon Bay area further through kayaking as well.
