Sampling of Northland College Student Publications

Northland College Student Publications (NCSP) is the voice of Northland students. As a contributor to the newspaper (Drifts), literary and visual arts magazine (Mosaic), and yearbook (Wedge), you’ll help bring life to community voice and experience, acting as an independent tableau to harness and disseminate perspective through news, creativity, arts, and history. NCSP is student-operated and helps community members speak up and speak out through unique works. Visit the NCSP website or contact via email to learn more.

Leadership

The Northland College Student Association (NCSA) is our centralized student government organization. Founded in 1970, NCSA is the only student-run campus government in the state of Wisconsin that independently drafts their own budget and manages their own finances. We think that’s pretty cool.

NCSA coordinates concerts, lectures, dances, the Ashland Folk Festival, and many other community events throughout the year. NCSA supports and funds student clubs and organizations at Northland. They are dedicated to supporting student leadership, advocating for student needs, participating in community service, promoting sustainability, and celebrating community. Check out the NCSA website, drop by their office in the Ponzio Campus Center, call them at 715-682-1289, or email them.

Clubs

Northland College students acting in play.

From acting to wildlife and a lot in between, we want you to find something that fuels you. We encourage you to get involved on campus and in the community. Northland student clubs offer experiences that will build on your interests and hopefully stretch you in unexpected ways too. For a full listing of Northland’s current clubs, visit our my.northland.edu, our site geared towards current Northland students, faculty, and staff.

Employment

Mercury Research

A key component of your college experience will be working in areas that fuel you. This might include a work-study job, an internship, or an off-campus job in your field. Our job boards helps you land as many opportunities as possible to further your growth.

Volunteering

volunteering at school
The Northland Volunteer Program (NVP) assists you in becoming engaged in the community through a wide variety of service opportunities. We believe that service and volunteer experiences are essential components of a whole education. We also believe that an enduring spirit of service to others brings great personal satisfaction and that all varieties of selfless work on behalf of others build healthy, vibrant communities. There are a variety of opportunities to satisfy the Active Citizenship certification requirements. Additionally, this is a great way for clubs and organizations to address their community service hours, as well as be personally satisfying and look great on resumes. Email us to get involved.
