Still, many people find themselves suffering in our rapidly changing world. Winter in the north woods can be enjoyed comfortably and safely with the right set of skills and practices. The Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program is for youth in sixth to ninth grade interested in learning and practicing skills for adventuring outside in safe and fun ways. Students who commit to six out of eight program days will work together to plan a final weekend adventure March 28-29 (back-up weekend April 11-12). The study of plastic pollution started in the worlds’ oceans, most famously focused on what has been called the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch.’ Despite a United Nations’ report suggesting that eighty percent of this oceanic debris came from land, very little research has focused upon freshwater systems even though they act as conduits from land to sea.
