Scholarships

Your hard work matters.

These achievement-based scholarships recognize not only your academic ability, but also a wide variety of other talents and interests. Scholarship funds are generously provided by alumni gifts, Northland’s endowment, and other contributions. All scholarships are renewable annually dependent upon meeting all continuing eligibility requirements.

Academic Scholarships
$24,000–$34,000 ($96,000–$136,000 over four years)
Merit-based aid towards tuition determined by academic performance and achievement. These scholarships are awarded shortly after acceptance to Northland College.

Moka’ang Giizis Scholarship
85 percent of tuition (renewable each year)
In recognition that Northland College is located on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabeg, citizens of one of the Ojibwe Tribes whose reservations were created by the Treaty of La Pointe 1854 or whose reservations are located within territory ceded by the 1837 Treaty of St. Peters and 1842 Treaty of La Pointe are eligible for this scholarship. Students need to submit an application and provide proof of Tribal enrollment to be awarded this scholarship. Northland Legacy Scholarship
$1,000 ($4,000 over four years)
Scholarships were created to recognize a continued family commitment to the high standard, unique mission, and lasting legacy of a Northland College education. To be considered for the Northland Legacy Scholarship, applicants must have a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or sibling who graduated from Northland College. To qualify for this scholarship, the family member listed on your application will need to be verified internally by our Office of Alumni Relations.

Samuel C. Johnson Family Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support and encouragement to a graduating senior from Drummond High School attending Northland College on a full-time basis. The scholarship will be awarded to one student and will cover full tuition. The recipient will only have responsibility for student fees, course fees, and housing and meal plans, when applicable. The scholarship can be renewed annually for three additional years, contingent on the student maintaining good standing both academically and as a member of the Northland College community. Transfer Scholarships
Transfer students are eligible for merit-based aid towards tuition determined by academic performance and achievement. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions. Please also notify us if you are a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, as this can qualify you for an additional $2,000 scholarship.

Visit Grant
Students who apply for admission for the 2024–25 academic year and attend an officially-recognized on-campus visit through the Office of Admissions will qualify for a renewable scholarship of $1,000 toward their cost of attendance with Northland College. Wisconsin Promise
Northland College is committed to social justice and inclusion while ensuring the success of our Wisconsin residents. In recognition of this, we have begun awarding Northland’s Wisconsin Promise for enrolling, full-time students whose families adjusted gross income (AGI) is less than $70,000. With this promise, students who meet this qualification will not be required to pay tuition costs during their time at Northland and only have responsibilities for any student fees, course fees, and housing and meal plans when applicable. To qualify, students will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have it sent to Northland using our school code (003875). They will be automatically awarded aid to reflect the costs of tuition based on your eligibility.
