Home / Student Life / Residential Life / ID Cards and Keys
ID Cards and Keys
Each resident will be issued an ID card to open the outside door of their assigned residence hall as well as a key to access their personal room. Residents of the Townhouses will be issued ID cards only. College-owned houses are issued keys to their exterior house door only. All outside entrances of residence halls are locked 24 hours a day.
- Residents are strongly encouraged to lock their room door or house exterior door when they are not present. Also, when entering a building, do not let non-residents into the building (unless they are coming to see you) or strangers into the building as it compromises everyone’s security.
- ID cards and keys are for use ONLY by the person to whom they are issued. No resident shall let another person possess or use their ID card or keys.
- ID cards and keys may not be used to gain entrance to buildings during times when the college is officially closed.
- Keys must be turned into a Residential Life staff member at the end of the academic year, and/or at the time a resident permanently vacates the room/residence hall.
- If ID cards are lost, stolen, or damaged it should be reported to the Office of Residential Life immediately. Worn out or damaged cards can be replaced one time for no cost; addition replacements for a fee ($15). Any lost, misplaced, or stolen ID card can be replaced for a fee ($15). If a student’s ID card wears out or is broken a second or more time(s) it can be replaced for a fee ($15).
- If keys are lost or stolen, it must be reported to the Office of Residential Life immediately. Lost, stolen or misplaced keys will be replaced for residents for a fee ($25-room; $15-ID card; $75-MELLC and Townhouse apartments).
