The Northland College Outpost - Outdoor Equipment Rental Center
The Northland College Outpost rents and sells outdoor gear to the Northland College Community and the greater Chequamegon Bay Community. From tents to trowels, canoes to Coleman stoves, and backpacks to bear ropes, we have outdoor gear options for every season and most group sizes. Bring in your old gear and we’ll sell it here on consignment. It’s an easy way make money off your battered boots and outdated skis.

- Mondays: 1-5 p.m.
- Tuesdays: 8:30-10 a.m. & 2-5 p.m.
- Wednesdays: 8:30-10 a.m. & 1-5 p.m.
- Thursdays: 8:30-10 a.m. & 1-5 p.m.
- Fridays: 8-noon & 1-5 p.m.
- Evenings and weekends by appointment with 72 hour notice.

Tuesday, January 24 ---- "Geology 101" Dr. Tom Fitz, professor of geo-science, Northland College, will explore the geology and watershed of the Penokee-Gogebic range, and help us understand the land and the water of the proposed mining region. 7:00 P.M. Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute.
Wednesday, January 25 - "Sustainability and Mining Economies" , Dr. Rajat Panwar. Dr. Panwar describes himself as "a business strategist with a focus on sustainability". Drawing from research in the United States and abroad, Dr. Panwar will address environmental economics related to heavy resource economics and business practices. 7:30 P.M. Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute
Thursday, January 26 - "Mushing, Mining and Bristol Bay, Alaska", a video documentary and presentation by Tim Osmar and Monica Zappa --- dog mushers, commercial fishermen, environmental activists who have been working on the Pebble Mine proposal threatening the Bristol Bay watershed in Alaska. 7:00 P.M. in the Alvord Theater, Ponzio Campus Center
Friday, January 27 -- "Regulating Resources in a Democracy", a presentation by Dr. Tom Evans of the Wisconsin Geological Survey and UW-Extension. 7:00 P.M. Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute.
Saturday, January 28 --- Public Forum and Discussion: "Mining, the Environmental and Regulation", Noon to 5:00 P.m., featuring presentations by Tom Evans; George Meyer (retired Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and current Executive Director of Wisconsin Wildlife Federation); Mike Wiggins (tribal chair, Bad River Band Ojibwe). The day includes a panel of local leaders in various fields (including Dr. Randy Lehr) asking questions of the presenters, and opportunities for the public to ask questions of the presenters.
