Health Services & Health Center
The Health Center assists students in taking responsibility for their own health, and to create a full and balanced lifestyle as well as a healthy community. The Health Center is staffed by a registered nurse, Autumn Kelley. Northland College is required by the State of Wisconsin to keep records of the immunization status of students living on campus for two diseases: Meningococcal disease and Hepatitis B. I prefer to collect a complete set of immunization records, so I can help students stay up to date on recommended vaccines. Hepatitis B vaccination is a series of three shots, usually given in infancy. Meningococcal vaccination is recommended within the past five years. Athletes must also submit immunization records for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) and tetanus. Students who have not received these vaccines can choose to receive the vaccine prior to arriving on campus, can receive the vaccine once on campus, through Health Services, or can formally waive the vaccine for reasons of medical, personal, or religious conviction. Waivers must be signed by the student (if over age 18) and must be submitted each year. Forms can be mailed to: Health Services, 1411 Ellis Avenue, Ashland, WI 54806 Faxed to: 715-682-1860 Emailed to: healthservices@northland.edu Or hand-delivered to the Health Services office, second floor of the Ponzio Campus Center.
