On-Campus Housing Selection Night
In an effort to make the on-campus housing selection process more consistent and user-friendly we have made significant changes to the process. If you have questions please contact a member of the Residential Life staff or come to the Office of Residential Life on the second floor of the Ponzio Center.
Information for all students
Housing Selection Night will be held near the end of March. Group housing (i.e. Theme Communities, Townhouses, MELLC Apartments) will be completed prior to Housing Selection Night. All students wanting to live on campus for the upcoming academic year and all students required to live on campus by the Northland College on-campus housing policy must complete a housing application and contract and turn it in to the Office of Residential Life by the posted date in order to be given a place in line to make a selection during On-Campus Housing Selection Night. Each student must complete and turn in a housing application even if he/she plans to ask for a housing exemption.
Each student's position in selection order is based on his/her total credits accumulated by date of the On-Campus Housing Selection Night. Tie breakers will be decided by accumulated G.P.A. For students selecting double rooms the total number of accumulated credits between both residents will be the basis for position in selection order.
After turning in a housing application, each student will receive a selection order number or numbers via e-mail. The number is specific to position in the selection order (i.e. #1 selects first, #2 next, etc.). If you receive more than one number in the e-mail it will state which number goes with which type of room (i.e. #26 single room and #4 double room). Students planning to be roommates will receive identical numbers and will select together during the campus Housing Selection Night.
Single Room Selection
During the On-Campus Housing Selection Night single room selection will start the night. Students with a number for single rooms will have the opportunity to select a single space on campus. There are a set number of single rooms across campus and when they are all taken, singles will no longer be available.
Single Gender Room Selection
Following single space selection, students will have the opportunity to select spaces in Memorial Hall (women) and the first two floors of McMillan Hall (men).
Standard Double Room Selection
Following single gender living areas, students will have the opportunity to select a space in all other open rooms in on-campus housing.
Since the selection order is determined by total number of accumulated credits, students selecting a double room will have a higher position in order if they have a roommate selecting with them.
Waiting List
If a student desires to live in a specific building or in a specific type of housing space that is not available when it is his/her turn then he/she will be able to be placed on a waiting list so that in the event of an opening the opportunity to have the most desired space is possible.
