Internships
Internships are paid or unpaid experiences in your field of study that offer both real-life experience as well as college credit. Internships can add to your required coursework, can be an excellent addition to your resume and may help you find a job more easily after graduation.
How do I sign up for an internship?
- Find a paid or unpaid experience in your field that interests you and will further develop your studies. When looking for a possible internship, look at all opportunities in your area. The fact that it is labeled an internship, summer job, or part time employment by an outside source does not make it such for Northland College. It is the process of filling out a form with a faculty member that makes an internship, an internship.
- Talk with a faculty member in your area of study to see if they are willing to work with you during your experience to make the experience an internship. They will decide whether this will qualify (does it further your studies at Northland?) and the faculty member will work with you to determine how the experience will be evaluated.
- With the faculty member, fill out the special course registration form. Turn this form into the Registrar by the appropriate semester deadline.
- Enjoy your internship experience!
For more information on how to find an internship, please contact Patti Fenner-Leino in Career Services, (715) 682-1230 or pfen-lei@northland.edu.
