Through the Northern Forest Restoration program, the Institute develops projects to support native plant restoration in the north woods. This includes providing landowners with information and assistance with implementing restoration efforts on their properties. Specific programs include schoolyard restoration, native plant propagation, Bayfield stream assessment, Ashland urban forestry indicators, and forest ecosystem health indicators. Teams of Northland students assist agency professionals in gathering data, assessment, and planning.
