Presidential Transition Committee Appointed
April 13, 2010
Interim President Jim Peterson has named a committee to facilitate the successful transition to the presidency of Michael A. Miller who begins his duties in July 2010. The committee, chaired by Marc Barbeau, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, includes broad representation from on and off campus."Our goal will be to assist and support President Miller while he acquaints himself with the College and the regional community so that he can hit the ground running during the critical early months of his presidency," said Barbeau. "I invite people to contact me with any suggestions for our consideration."
The committee will identify individuals and opportunities for Pres. Miller to meet with community and business leaders, governmental officials at local, state, and federal levels, tribal leaders, donors, and alumni of Northland College. It will also make recommendations on how the College may formally celebrate the interim presidency of Jim Peterson.
Committee members from the Ashland community include Scott Bretting, owner of Bay Area Transportation and River Rock Inn & Bait Shop, Jenny Eng, real estate agent at Coldwell Banker, Dan Hymans, President of Memorial Medical Center, and Gary LaPean, owner of Evergreen Shopper. On-campus members of the committee include Brad Anderson, HR Director, Kathy Buvala, administrative support, Jim Paruk, Assoc. Prof. Biology, Julia Trojanowski, Library Director, David Wahlberg, Vice President of Marketing and Communications and committee vice chair, and Rick Waligora, Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
