Northland College launches mobile website
March 29, 2010
Northland College has launched a new mobile version of its award-winning website. The mobile site, which can be accessed by navigating to www.northland.edu from any web-enabled mobile device such as an iPhone or Blackberry, includes many of the most popular features of the full site simplified for easier display on the increasingly popular mobile platforms.
In addition to the mobile site launch, the full Northland College website has been recognized for exceptional design by Smashing Magazine. In a March article titled “Showcase of Academic and Higher Education Websites,” the Frieburg, Germany-based web design publication praised the Northland site for its innovative use of “unique typography and grunge elements.”
The recognition is the latest honor the College has received for its redesigned website. In 2009, Northland College received the Silver Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for its accomplishment in creative web planning, production and promotion of the College’s programs. The website, first launched in November 2008, was developed over the course of several months in partnership with Flint Interactive of Duluth, Minnesota.
Northland College and its Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute are located in Ashland, Wis., near the shores of Lake Superior. Northland’s distinctive environmental liberal arts program, passionate faculty, and beautiful natural location create a community of engaged learners who develop the skills and experience to prepare for advanced studies and meaningful lives. Founded in 1892, Northland enrolls 700 students from across the nation and across the world. For more information about Northland College and its Institute, visit www.northland.edu.
