Northland College participating in Private College Week
June 4, 2009
Northland College and other members of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) will be participating in Wisconsin’s Private College Week, June 13-18. Each day of the week WAICU member schools will repeat events, allowing prospective students to visit multiple institutions in the same week. At Northland, Private College Week will feature a general information session covering topics like admission, financial aid and academic programs, as well as a campus tour and lunch with current students and Admissions staff. The events will begin each day in the Ponzio Campus Center at 9:30 a.m. and are open to students free of charge.
“We’re proud to share our campus with students and families wanting to explore the benefits of a private environmental liberal arts education,” says Ralph Stewart, Associate Director of Admission at Northland, “By partnering with all private colleges across the state, this event allows families to visit more than one campus during the same week, cutting back on travel costs.”
Private College Week is a recurring event put on by WAICU to inform college-bound youth about private and independent Wisconsin schools. It is tooled toward parents, first-year students, and transfer students, with information on specific colleges, financial aid, and even a scholarship contest. For more information, visit the Private College Week website at www.privatecollegeweek.com.
WAICU, founded in 1961, is the official organization of Wisconsin’s 20 independent and private, nonprofit colleges and universities and their students. WAICU works to advance the interests and development of private, independent higher education in Wisconsin and administer mutual consultation and cooperation among its member schools. In addition to Northland, other WAICU member schools include the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Alverno College, Carthage College, and Viterbo University.
