Northland College hosts spring choral concert
March 20, 2012
The Northland College Choirs will present their spring concert on Thursday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alvord Theatre. The Northland College Choirs will perform with community women's choir the Accidentals. The concert, another offering in the Northland College Community Connections series, is free and open to the public.
The Northland College Choirs will sing music inspired by the theme "Singers & Songwriters." The musical ensembles will perform songs by Iron & Wine, Jeremy Messersmith, and Sufjan Stevens. In addition, the groups will also sing more traditional Renaissance madrigals.
"I am pleased to work with such a fine group of individuals at Northland College and within the surrounding community," says Joshua Clausen, Director of Choral Activities and Instructor of Music at Northland College.
The groups will be accompanied by Northland College Music Director Joel Glickman on clarinet and banjo, Linda Calhan on cello, and Joni Chapman on piano.
The Northland College Choirs includes the Northland Singers, Northland Chamber Choir and LumberJack Chorus. The Northland Singers is open to all Northland students and anyone may audition to become a part of the Northland Chamber Choir. The Lumberjack Chorus is open to all men in the Chequamegon Bay area community.
