Northland College celebrates the Inauguration of 13th President Michael A. Miller
October 21, 2011
The public is encouraged to attend the inauguration of Michael A. Miller, 13th President of Northland College, on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Kendrigan Gymnasium on the Northland campus. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Ponzio Campus Center from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
"President Michael A. Miller has served the community by example since coming to Northland," says David Saetre, Campus Minister of Northland College. "The public should feel welcome in marking this occasion with the Northland family as we come together to recognize how exemplary leadership can benefit our communities."
Michael A. Miller, Ph.D., joined the Northland community as its 13th president on July 1, 2010, following a nationwide search that attracted nearly 200 candidates. President Miller says the ceremony will also serve as a celebration of Northland's recent successes.
"But most notably, the ceremony will signal our launch," says Miller. "Our emerging vision is and will continue to be fueled by strategic positioning, data-informed execution, a culture of innovation, a richness of partnership, the integration of diverse perspectives and contributions, and always, the empowerment of people. Our emerging vision responsibly and passionately engages our world, with all of its challenges."
As president, Dr. Miller has continued to build upon the Northland traditions of strong community and innovative curriculum, initiating a campus-wide call to celebrate the trust, faith and determination upon which the College was founded. Emphasizing open communication and concern for others, he has brought together individuals from all campus constituencies for broad discussions on emerging trends at the College and has supported bold new approaches to growing enrollment and expanding educational and research opportunities for Northland's students.
For those unable to attend, Northland College radio station 97.7 WRNC-LP will broadcast the inauguration live. The public may also listen to the live stream of the inauguration at www.wrnclp.org.
