Community invited to explore volunteer opportunities
September 12, 2011
Individuals looking for volunteer opportunities can meet with community organizations at the 4th annual Northland Volunteer Fair, to be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Ponzio Campus Center. Between 20 and 25 organizations with short and long-term opportunities are expected to participate."The fair has proven to be a great way to connect community partners with energetic, prepared students who are actively seeking service opportunities. This year we thought we would also invite members of the public with the same desire to serve our community," said Patti Fenner-Leino, Director of Career Education and Retention. "We think Northland students and community members working in collaboration to serve their community is a winning opportunity for all."
Previous volunteer opportunities have included short-term commitments, such as helping with community events like Apple Festival and the WhistleStop Marathon. Long-term volunteer opportunities are also available, such as working with Faith-in-Action throughout the academic year. The fair is free and open to all.
