Northland College Celebrates World Peace and Prayer Day
June 15, 2011
The public is invited to participate in the 16th annual World Peace and Prayer Day at Northland College on Tuesday, June 21, from 10-11:30 a.m. on the Northland College soccer field. Speakers at the event include Bad River Elder Sylvia Cloud, Bad River Elder and Retired Professor of Native American Studies Joe Rose, Northland College Campus Minister David Saetre, and Bayfield High School Teacher of Native American Culture Diane Defoe. Free parking is available in lot 4, adjacent to the soccer fields.
First observed in 1996, World Peace and Prayer Day was founded by Chief Arvol Looking Horse of the Great Sioux Nation as a call to world faiths to unite and bring about a great healing to Mother Earth. For more information about World Peace and Prayer Day, visit http://www.worldpeaceandprayerday2011.org.
