Northland College celebrates advancement of two faculty members
May 17, 2011
The Northland College Board of Trustees recently recognized the achievements and contributions of two faculty members. Don Albrecht was promoted and awarded the title of Associate Professor of Art, while Annette Nelson was granted tenure and awarded the title of Associate Professor of Teacher Education.
"Northland College has a proud tradition of academic excellence, and today we celebrate the accomplishments of two professors who are instrumental in our continued delivery of this tradition,” said President Michael A. Miller. “Professors Albrecht and Nelson are talented and committed faculty members, and are also wonderful people. Each of them has contributed tirelessly to the culture of academic rigor and innovation for which Northland is known. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the faculty and staff of the College, I am delighted to offer my congratulations to these two outstanding educators."
Nelson joined the Northland faculty in 2003. She has been instrumental in developing the education program at the College, creating new partnership with local school districts and shepherding the department through a successful and monumental state recertification process.
Albrecht joined the Northland faculty in 1980 and quickly demonstrated a willingness to assume many important roles and responsibilities that have positively impacted students at the College. Albrecht played a key role in the development of the Superior Connections curriculum, and has self-published two collections of photographic images in addition to contributing numerous works to peer-review publications.
