Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Supervisor to visit Northland College
January 11, 2011
Paul Strong, forest supervisor for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, will lead a discussion of issues surrounding water quality, climate change and forest health on Wednesday, Jan. 12. The event will be held in the Sentry Room at the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute (SOEI) beginning at 7 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge.
Originally from Maine, Strong joined the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest from the Mark Train National Forest in southern Missouri, where he served as deputy forest supervisor. Strong holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Maine, a master's degree in wildlife ecology from Oklahoma State University, and a Ph.D. in wildlife resources from the University of Maine. Strong's relationship with Northland dates to 1985, when he began his professional career administering outreach conservation programs in the Lake Superior watershed for the SOEI.
