Profile
I am currently serving Northland College as Director of Institutional Grant Development and Administration. I have been working for the College since 2001, with the exception of two years that I stayed home to care for my two children, Nataliya and Sasha. The other positions I have held include the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, and Administrative Assistant to the Provost/Academic Dean.
My background is in publishing and non-profit development. After college, I worked as an editor for the elementary textbook division of Holt Rinehart Winston and as an editor for The WILD Foundation, where I learned the many facets of running a non-profit organization, including grant proposal development, program administration, board development, and event coordination. I moved to the Ashland area in 1996 and also worked at the Washburn Public Library and Cable Natural History Museum.
I grew up in St Louis, Missouri, but spent many vacations visiting my grandparents in Hayward, Wisconsin. My great-grandparents were among the first Scandinavian settlers of Hayward. My great-grandfather, Ole Williamson, a logger, remembers when you could not see the sky through the trees. My passion for nature, and wanting to work for the benefit of the natural world, came from my northern Wisconsin childhood experiences. I am also a certified master gardener, and I enjoy serving on the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award for Children's Literature, running, swimming, and cross-country skiing.
