Madeline Island School of the Arts
Academic credit for approved Madeline Island School of the Arts (MISA) courses is offered through Northland College. The partnership with the Madeline Island School of the Arts reflects the College's long-standing commitment to the humanities and fine arts and an appreciation for the essential role that the arts play in lives of individuals and communities.
The Madeline Island School of the Arts campus is located approximately one mile from the ferry landing at the historic Sandstrom Dairy Farm. The farm served the Island residents with milk and produce for more than forty years. The farm buildings have been restored to offer large workshop studios, and the adjacent farmhouse is meticulously decorated to the period and provides instructor lodging with all the requisite comforts. The MISA campus features state-of-the-art classrooms, lodging with bath ensuite, orchards, gardens and walking trails.
The central Island location provides students easy access to many Island attractions, including beaches, restaurants, local shops and bike trails. The two museums and bus tour offer fascinating glimpses into the Island's rich past. Dining choices range from casual to gourmet cuisine. There are also a variety of adventures available - kayaking, sailing, golfing, dog sledding, cross-country skiing and fishing are some of the fun activities visitors enjoy.
For additional information about Northland's partnership programs in the Humanities, Humanity & Nature Studies, Art, and Writing, please visit the MISA website at http://www.madelineartschool.com/.
