Get Serious about Experience
"One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular." -Anthony Robbins
Northland College Internships pair classroom theory with immersion experiences. Students develop intentional learning goals for engagement with partnering entities and reflect actively to refine and enhance personal, professional, and educational development. An internship is different from a job because it is focused more on the student's learning rather than the organization's needs.
Unpaid internships can offer some of the best opportunities and usually pay off in the long run. Get creative to get experience: work a 20-30 hour/week unpaid internship while working another job, begin conversations early with parents or mentors about financial support or a loan while pursuing an unpaid internship, or apply for Parsonage Funding if the experience meets its criteria.
Ready to get serious about experience? Begin here:
1. Fill out an Internship Request Form:
Northland College has many alumni and partners who are willing to help find you an internship. If you know what kind of an experience you want, fill out an Internship request form and we will see if we have a likely match for you.
2. Search the Possibilities:
Current Internship Postings that fit our academic programs are at My Northland on the Career Resources page
3. Attend the Job and Internship Fair (Internships, Jobs, and Volunteer Opportunities)
Formally known as the Career Fair, the Job and Internship Fair will be held on Thursday, February 9th from 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM on the first floor of the Ponzio Campus Center. Meet employers, network, and set yourself up for success by bringing a polished resume.
Testimonials:

-
"I'm not sure I can sum up just how important my internship was to my present career in just 2-3 sentences." -Shannon Franks ‘01 Senior Remote Sensing Scientist for NASA
