Northland is important to our region and local communities.
Michael BeBeau graduated from Northland College in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. As Community Service Manager for Xcel Energy, he is involved with a variety of organizations, including economic development corporations in Bayfield, Sawyer and Gogebic counties, and the cities of Ashland, Ironwood and Park Falls.
“I know first hand how important Northland College is to our region and to our local communities,” he said. “It’s a natural step for me to build on the relationship that exists between Xcel Energy and the College. And I’m happy to do it.”
In 2008, Mike played a key role in securing $150,000 gift from Xcel Energy to replace the windows in the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute (SOEI) with energy efficient windows. When Mike is asked to give of his time he has always answered, “Yes.” He has been an active community volunteer for the past eight years helping with the College’s Annual Area Fund Drive. He chaired and co-chaired this drive for the past two years. Annually he has worked with the College and Xcel Energy to generate over $10,000 in support of the SOEI.
