Full Moon Luminary XC Community Ski Party
Feb 2, 2012
Location Information
6:30-9:30 p.m. @ Mt. Ashwabay
Mt. Ashwabay Ski & Recreation Area, Bayfield Regional Conservancy, and Northland College’s XC Club are teaming up to celebrate the full moon and the much delayed arrival of winter! Come on up to Mt. Ashwabay on Tuesday, Feb. 7th for a moonlight ski. Northland XC Club will be lighting the Sugarbush Trail out to the Nourse Sugar Shack with luminaries(approximately 4k each way). The BRC will be hosting a potluck, so bring your favorite post-skiing snack to share. Mt. Ashwabay is waving the trail fee for the evening(normally $10/adults, $8/JR’s & SR’s), and lighting fires in the Chalet and T-Bar to warm-up by after you’re done. Hot, cold, and adult beverages will be available for purchase as well. Our rental fleet is available if you need skis, and the Northland XC Club will be willing to give you some friendly pointers if you ask for them. Snowshoers are also welcome, but asked to stay off the groomed classic track. Snow, friends, fire, and the! full moon. What more could you ask for?

Women's History Month Film and Discussion
Feb 2, 2012
Location Information
Ponzio Basement Lounge
On Thursday, February 2, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Ponzio Basement Lounge, we will be showing the short film, "Benazir Bhutto: Battling Dictatorship in Pakistan". A discussion will be held afterwards.
As prime minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto was the first woman-and also the youngest person-to head the government of a Muslim-majority state in modern times. In this program, Bhutto answers questions about the personal risks she faced as a woman pursuing a career in Pakistani politics, the influence of Western democracy on her as a politician, and the empowering effect of her role in public life on Pakistani women. She also explains why her government recognized the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and addresses charges of corruption against her. Background on her upbringing and education and her "arranged" marriage is included as well. (41 minutes) Everybody is welcome and encouraged to attend and participate!
