These achievement-based scholarships recognize not only your academic ability but also a wide variety of other talents and interests. Scholarship funds are generously provided by alumni gifts, Northland’s endowment, and other contributions.

All scholarships are renewable annually dependent upon meeting all continuing eligibility requirements. Scholarships do not have to be repaid and range from $500 to the cost of tuition.

Academic Scholarships
$7,000 – $18,000 ($24-72,000 over 4 years)
Competitive scholarships awarded to applicants based on their existing academic record and test scores. These scholarships are awarded shortly after acceptance to Northland College.

Sigurd Olson Eco-Visionary Scholarships
$500 – $4,500 ($2-18,000 over 4 years)
Competitive scholarships created in the spirit of Sigurd Olson’s legacy that are awarded to applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to the environment and conservation through academic achievements or extracurricular experiences. Sigurd Olson (1899-1982) was a wilderness advocate, teacher, best-selling nature writer, and Northland College student.

Northland Legacy Scholarships
$2,500 ($10,000 over 4 years)
Scholarships created to recognize the continued family commitment to the high standard, unique mission, and lasting legacy of a Northland College education. To be considered for the Legacy Scholarships applicants must have a parent or grandparent who attended Northland College.

Lake Superior Scholar Awards
$500 – $4,500 ($2-18,000 over 4 years)
Competitive scholarships designed for applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence or extracurricular experience that related to their area of interest.

Leadership, Service & Involvement Scholarships
$500 – $4,500 ($2-18,000 over 4 years)
Competitive scholarships that recognize applicants who have made contributions to their school and/or community through leadership, volunteer service, and involvement outside the classroom.

Transfer Scholarships
Transfer students are eligible for all of the above listed scholarships, which will be awarded at the time of admission. Please notify us if you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Learn more about transferring to Northland.
